Srinidhi Raghavan

Srinidhi

Born in Chennai, Srinidhi Raghavan started learning Bharatanatyam at the tender age of five from her mother and guru - Smt. Usha Raghavan and from guru - Smt. Malathy Thothadri.

Her experiences with dance have spanned several cultures and countries, including those of the UK, Switzerland, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Barbados, the US and of course India, during the prestigious December festival in Chennai. Such exposure has in turn added an eclectic element to her delivery which, when combined with her traditional style, results in a unique reflection of elegance and experience.

Srinidhi had her Arangetram on August 6th, 1998, in Chennai, India. The Chief Guests were Padmabhushan Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan and Justice Mohan, while the Guest of Honor was Smt. Nandini Ramani.

Through her four years at Columbia University in New York, Srinidhi pursued her interest in dance by participating in and leading the South Asian dance troupe at Columbia - Taal. As president of Taal, Srinidhi successfully led an intercollegiate dance showcase and fundraiser in New York involving universities from across the United States.

Srinidhi’s passion for dance took on a very rewarding form when she participated for four years in a row in the Columbia University Dance Marathon involving non-stop dancing for 28 hours to raise funds for paediatric AIDS relief.

In 2008, Srinidhi, along with Sahasra Sambamoorthi - President of Navatman, Inc - choreographed and presented a dance duet, 'Her Story', on the theme of a woman’s unconditional love at the prestigious Peter Norton Symphony Space: Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater in Manhattan. Not only did the world premier in Manhattan sell out two weeks prior to opening, the duo then embarked on a global tour and performed in 9 cities in 2009 - Newark, Baltimore, Washington D.C, Boston, Chicago, Ottowa, Manchester, London, and Chennai.

Since then, Srinidhi has continued to perform in New York and London, while pursuing her MBA at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Currently an Investment Banker in New York, Srinidhi hopes that, as she strives towards greater excellence in dancing, her ardent love for Bharatanatyam will endow her with a certain passion to break boundaries and widen her horizons not only in the performing arts but also in other avenues of life.
