At the tender age of six, I could not possibly have comprehended the magnificence of this revered art, Bharatanatyam. Putting girl children through the paces of Bharatanatyam was de rigueur in traditional families in Madras those days and mine was no exception. I remember walking on one auspicious day, full of apprehension as well as hope, into the nearby dance school holding my mother's hand.

Well…Years have rolled by. As I look back now, I am overwhelmed by what Bharatanatyam has blessed me with. It has given me everything in life I could have asked for .. happiness, health, prosperity, beautiful relationships and, above all, a sense of fulfilment. Adding yet another delightful chapter to this tale, my daughter Srinidhi now joins me in this great journey.

Decades of dancing in front of audience of all hues, teaching students from many countries and meeting art lovers in different parts of the world have enriched my life.
